"To follow your instincts on what you want to do rather than what the "right path" is. It's sometimes a tougher go and has hurdles but ultimately you will build a much happier and more rewarding life. For example, the path for journalists was to start in news and work up to bigger markets... I didn't want to do news so I started seeking opportunities and creating content in the more adventure/travel based space. It took awhile for that to catch on as a career but when it did it got me exactly where I want to be.

We live in a social media world and it is absolutely a part of the industry now and a very useful platform. But, sometimes you feel like your whole life is on display. Seriously, I wish people would understand that if you want to you truly can pursue any life path. I have so many people say... It must be nice or I wish I had your life. The answer is always.. it is nice, but you have to build it. It's a great life once you've built your foundation. It's all available but it does require one stepping outside of the lanes."
